Project “Public participation in sustainable community recovery through anti-corruption and environmental assessment of development plans”
The project aims to strengthen the capacity of CSOs to influence the sustainable post-war recovery of communities by engaging residents in the corruption and environmental assessment of proposed solutions. In addition to the short-term outcomes described in the logical framework, the project will also build community resilience and promote social cohesion around universally recognised sustainable development goals.
Про проєкт
This project is implemented with support from the ‘Strengthening Civil Society in the Eastern Partnership’ project, co-funded by the government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the European Union.
Ensuring unity in adherence to the key principles of post-war reconstruction at the regional and local level requires civil society organisations to develop capacity and share experience in the following areas
- analysing corruption risks in strategies and programmes for socio-economic development of communities and regions;
- public control over the reconstruction processes;
- involvement of citizens (residents, displaced persons, IDPs) in decision-making processes;
- strategic environmental assessment and environmental impact assessment of proposed strategies and measures.
The main objectives of the project are:
- Adaptation of the methodology for assessing corruption risks in the environmental component of strategies, plans, recovery and adaptation programmes of Pervozvanivska, Bobrynetska, Kulykivska, Pustomytivska, Krasnopilska and Velikosorochynska territorial communities;
- In 6 target communities, a comprehensive environmental and anti-corruption assessment of recovery and adaptation plans is planned with the involvement of local activists;
- 20 representatives of regional and local CSOs will improve their skills and knowledge on how to apply corruption and environmental assessment of proposed decisions in local development documents;
- 60 local opinion leaders will be involved in community development planning based on a deliberative approach.
