KEY PERFORMANCE RESULTS FOR 2025

The 2025 annual report of the non-governmental organisation “NOVA Energiya” has been published and is freely available. In this report, you will find detailed information on the organisation’s structure and its activities across its main areas of work.

2025 was a year of strategic focus and qualitative strengthening of the organization’s role in the field of resource justice. NGO “NOVA Energiya” deliberately focused its activities on four key areas: implementation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (hereinafter — EITI), regional development, participatory democracy, and institutional development of the organization.

Work with communities became more systematic. The organisation has supported communities in drawing up strategic development documents, drafting charters, implementing the principles of transparency in the extractive industries at a local level, working with data, and integrating tools for participatory democracy. This comprehensive approach creates the conditions for systemic changes in the culture of decision-making at a local level.

The communications component has undergone a significant transformation. The organization substantially strengthened its role in providing communication support for EITI, combining the “EITI4RESETUA” project with a new area of communication support for the Initiative. A key milestone was the development of the EITI Communication Strategy in cooperation with the National Secretariat and the Multi-Stakeholder Group, which established a strategic vision for positioning EITI as a key accountability mechanism in the extractive sector.

Analytics and data management have become an integral part of all projects. In 2025, the organization firmly established its understanding of data as a driver of change in communities — a tool for substantiating decisions, monitoring progress, and building evidence-based arguments in dialogue with government and business. In parallel, the organization conducted research on changes in participatory democracy tools, accumulating practical experience for further work.

A particular achievement was the study of public participation and monitoring of Production Sharing Agreements (PSAs). This area is unique in the context of the civil society sector, as the PSA mechanism, despite its growing role in regulating the extractive sector, remains insufficiently studied from the perspective of public oversight. NGO “NOVA Energiya” plans to support the development of this area in future projects.

Participation in the “Impulse” programme became a catalyst for the organization’s institutional development. Within the programme, NGO “NOVA Energiya” acted as the grantee of a large institutional project while simultaneously implementing smaller projects under the same programme. This enabled the organization to expand its partnerships and team, strengthen its organizational capacity, develop internal policies, and update its development strategy.

Overall, in 2025, the organization implemented 10 projects — 2.5 times more than in previous years.

Thus, 2025 was a year of strategic maturity for NGO “NOVA Energiya”. The organization clearly defined its role as an organization supporting communities in advancing resource justice and sustainable recovery, using analytics and data as tools for informed decision-making. This foundation provides a strong basis for further strengthening its impact on sustainable development processes in Ukraine.
